Discography

CLR21 SMC 'Moth Room'

Moth Room is an apt title for SMC's debut collection of music. The sounds she uses are fragile but highly animated, threatening to disappear as soon as they occur, and often returning with the manic energy that makes this tape so intriguing. Moth Room channels the understated music of Woo and Colleen through a diverse but subtle palette of sounds, which spans to include the fervent hand-picking of Spanish guitar music.

  CLR20 KAGAMI Smile 'Transitory Heart'

Transitory Heart is a collection of rugged, street-weathered ambience born out of the isolation of a global pandemic. KAGAMI Smile's thickly-textured sound borders the melancholy, nostalgic, and intimidating across these five long-form pieces, all extending the themes of his previous releases with the likes of Dream Catalogue, BLCR Laboratories, and Søvn Records.

  CLR19 Elixir Terrace 'Bakavali Winter'

'The Bakavali winter brings plentiful sky stone, rejuvenated fountain springs, and warmth unknown to those outside this blessed place'

The first record of travel from Elixir Terrace, in an edition of 20 handmade cassettes, full colour doublesided artwork.

CLR18 Storch Interior Extracts 'Portal Access Optimal'

Portal Access Optimal is the third installment from Storch Interior Extracts in a trilogy of albums that draw on the optimism of early home computer marketing. Two sides of bloops and warbles that recall installation CD accompaniment music emerging for the first time since the the mid nineties. With the right connection, transcendence is possible.

CLR17 Fahmi Mursyid 'Sejarah'

Fahmi Mursyid is an Indonesian sound artist previously working with the likes of Chinabot and featured on Resonance FM. Continuing his trademark technique, Fahmi warps and reframes samples of traditional Indonesian music into something truly disarming. At times recalling the cacophonies of Berio or Xenakis, but always tempered by an ambient sensibility, Sejarah is a welcome force in the Cellar catalogue.

CLR16 duenn 'endlesstape'

Like the formation of a glacier or the splitting of a continent, the long-form pieces on endlesstape move with astounding economy whilst retaining a fearsome element. duenn immediately plunges the listener into a deep well, through which all other sounds are channeled and transformed into an ethereal echo. Ambience for the anthropocene. Edition of 20.Moth Room is an apt title for SMC's debut collection of music.

CLR15 Cyparissus 'Losing'

Both melancholic and blissful, Cyparissus induces a cathartic sense of mourning across this collection of beautiful ambient drones. Though they are sprawling in nature, no piece outstays its welcome, instead using the time to explore every detail in its sonic environment. Suitable for the reduction of flight-phobias and stress induced by urban living.
Edition of 20

CLR14 Storch Interior Extracts 'Navigator Salon'

Navigator Salon is the second half of the cross-dimensional communique begun by Storch Interior Extracts late last year. Bloops and bubbles form an idiosyncratic morse code peculiar only to this series, this time taking on occasional clarity before disappearing beneath warm layers of hum.

CLR13 Sleepland 'Tidal Motion'

Tidal Motion is a collection of five slabs of ambience, recorded by Sleepland (Kengo Yonemura) in his resident Berlin. His drones waste no time filling space, with a feather-light tone that is countered by a thick, omnipresent texture. There is a subtle drama to Sleepland's particular brand of ambience, perhaps driven by the surprising fact that the guitar is the leading instrument in these works, the strings of which are frequently navigating the more synthetic drones beneath them.

CLR12 ubik mcdxcii 'Echoes of a Dead Planet'

London-based ubik mcdxcii debuts an ineffable collection of other-worldly tracks. Rumbling hip-hop beats underpin a constant, psychedelic flow of heavily processed vocals that rattle and tumble across both sides. Undone rhythms that frequently disintegrate somehow guide you to something new. Edition of 35.

CLR11 Storch Interior Extracts 'Remote Assistance Failure'
The filtered, unintelligible sounds of a voice somewhere across the atlantic, travelling through a cable to your display. All clarity is lost along the way, but in this post-language vacuum something far more soothing emerges in place of words.
